Morayah Cupp wins Country Music Showdown

Morayah Cupp is continuing her winning ways, taking the top prize at last week’s Coyote 105.3 Country Music Showdown at the Red Will County Fair.
Cupp of Champion won the 19 and older division, then went on to capture the Overall Outstanding Performer title among all contestants in three divisions.
She was presented the top $300 prize from radio personalities on stage.
Cupp, who will be a senior at Oklahoma State University this fall, performed a vocal solo, “Born to Fly,” made popular by country singer Sara Evans.
She sang the same song nine years ago in the McCook competition but was in a younger age group.
After she was named Overall Outstanding Performer at the July 19 competition, she sang as one of the opening acts for the Chris Cagle concert two days later on July 21 at the Red Willow County Fair.
Last week’s win now qualifies her for the Galaxy of Stars competition in Grand Island in September. It will be held the same time as the state fair, but is no longer part of the fair activities.
Other divisions in this year’s competition in McCook were 19 and younger and professional, the latter including all of those who had won the Overall Outstanding Performer in previous years.
