Manor alarm, open burning call out fire departments

A faulty sensor likely set off by the wind called the Imperial Volunteer Fire Department to the Imperial Manor last week.
Another call came Saturday afternoon when both the Imperial and Lamar fire departments responded to what turned out to be open burning.
Fire Chief Doug Mitchell said at the Oct. 13 call to the Manor, firefighters first examined the inside of the facility with thermal cameras. After it was found to be a faulty sensor, the alarm was reset.
Saturday’s call took the IVFD and Lamar firefighters northwest of Imperial where there was two locations with open burning underway. Mitchell said neither property owner had acquired a burn permit.
Mitchell said once they found out what the calls involved, firefighters returned to the hall.
