Man wanted on Colorado felony charges arrested in Imperial

    A man living in Imperial was arrested Sunday morning on numerous felony charges in Colorado.
    The Chase County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Imperial Police Department, located Edwin Ricardo Nevarez, 20, who was wanted on an out-of-state warrant from Colorado for several felony charges.
    Nevarez was arrested at his residence in Winters Trailer Court in Imperial around 8:30 a.m. Sunday and without incident, said Sheriff Kevin Mueller. He was booked into the Chase County Jail.
    Mueller said Nevarez was wanted for numerous offenses allegedly committed in Phillips County, Colorado including 2nd degree kidnapping, sexual assault, sex assault on a child, child enticement and child abuse.
    Mueller said he is  awaiting extradition proceedings for Nevarez, who is being held with no bond.
    The Chase County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to cooperate with authorities in Colorado as they complete their criminal investigation, Mueller said.  
    Nevarez will be held in the Chase County Jail until extradition is completed, Mueller said.
