Local traffic will face slight delays during Hwy. 6 work

Traffic between Imperial and the Highway 61 turnoff near Enders Lake will be dealing with slight delays during a state roads project.
Weather permitting, the 10-mile crack seal project will begin Monday at the south end of Broadway and move east, according to Kerry Scott of the Nebraska Department of Transportation in McCook.
Scott said it’s the same strip of highway state crews milled and chip sealed last summer, ending just south of the lake.
The work is expected to take 12 days. Traffic will be maintained with a pilot car and flaggers, Scott said.
Crack sealing is a process of cleaning and filling open joints and cracks in the surface with sealant to prevent entry of moisture and debris.
State maintenance forces will be performing a crack seal from mile marker 24 to 34.
Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously in and near work zones, to buckle up and put phones down, Scott said.
