Local candidate Q & A’s start next week

At the May Primary Election, five local races will have run-offs when some candidates will be eliminated heading into November.
That’s especially true for several Chase County races. Three county official races will see candidates eliminated at the Primary.
Because of that, The Imperial Republican will begin a series next week that will provide a look at candidates running for those contested offices, and where they stand on some of the issues.
The newspaper is submitting questions-and-answers to all candidates running for County Treasurer, County Attorney, County Clerk, the Upper Republican NRD board’s at-large seat and Wauneta-Palisade school board.
Biographical information will also be included.
The first of the Q & A’s will focus on the County Treasurer candidates, and will be published in the April 6 edition. The others will run the four following weeks heading into the May 10 Primary.
There are also races for other local offices including Imperial mayor, Imperial city council and the Chase County board of education, but all of those candidates will automatically advance to the General Election, said County Clerk Debra Clark.
Plans are to follow up this fall with questions to those candidates.
