IVFD partnering with Flamingo Motorcycle Gang for Sharp benefit

Another poker run fundraiser is on the horizon to help benefit a local man.
The Flamingo Motorcycle Gang is organizing the poker run event on Saturday along with the Imperial Volunteer Fire Department as host for the after-run activities, all to benefit Daryl Sharp.
Registration for the poker run will take place from 10 to 10:30 a.m. that morning at the fire hall at 315 Broadway.
The first poker hand will be drawn prior to leaving the fire hall at 10:30 a.m.
“Any type of vehicle is welcome to participate in the poker run,” said Jan Elliott, event organizer.
The 175-mile route will travel from Imperial to DJ’s in Grant, Ogallala  and Paxton.
Lunch will be each participant’s responsibility.
After meeting up at Windy Gap in Paxton at 1 p.m., the second hand will be drawn before the travelers move on to the Longhorn Bar in Sutherland, T’s in Wallace, Just 1 More Bar in Hayes Center, Mr. C’s in Wauneta, then returning to the Imperial fire hall for a hamburger feed around 6 p.m.
Following  supper, including hamburgers prepared by the IVFD firefighters, there will be a silent auction and bake sale.
Desserts and bake sale items will be made by members of the IVFD auxiliary and Imperial Super Foods is donating the salads, said Elliott.
“The public is invited to the free-will donation supper which should begin around 6 p.m. as well as the silent auction,” she added.
Sharp has been a volunteer on the fire department over 25 years and is First Lieutenant.
His fellow firefighters and their families have rallied together to help him with medical-related expenses while he is battling cancer.
