Imperial man to be arraigned on child pornography charges

    Bill Whitlow, 53, of Imperial was to face arraignment on Wednesday this week after his arrest on child pornography charges.
    The 1 p.m. Wednesday arraignment in Chase County Court was scheduled before Judge Edward Steenburg.
    Investigators with the Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) arrested Whitlow March 16 following an investigation into child pornography.
    Investigators served a search warrant on his residence at 211 West 5th Street in Imperial.That search resulted in the discovery of child pornography possessed by Whitlow, a State Patrol news release said.
    Whitlow was lodged in the Chase County Jail that day, when Judge Steenburg set bond at $100,000.
    Clerk Magistrate Karen Mueller said Whitlow posted the required 10% bond the same day, and was released.
    The complaint filed in Chase County Court March 5 by County Attorney Arlan Wine charges Whitlow with two counts of possession of child pornography, Class IIA felonies.
    According to the arrest warrant affidavit, State Patrol Investigator Justin Davis served a search warrant March 11 at Whitlow’s residence. Items seized included an HP laptop computer and several thumb drives.
    The investigation began when NSP received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
    Local law enforcement were not involved in the arrest.
