Imperial EMS celebrates National EMS Week

Imperial EMS volunteers have been busy, not just with serving the community, but celebrating the annual National EMS week.
The theme for this year is “EMS: Rising to the Challenge.”
Throughout this week beginning Tuesday, EMS members visited the 5th and 6th grade classrooms at CCS and taught students some CPR fundamentals.
Wednesday was preschool fun day in the morning and the elementary track meet in the afternoon where members  gave students a tour of the ambulance and showed them how equipment worked.
Thursday will be another fun day in the morning at a local preschool.
Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings, Imperial Theatre will be showing the movie “Ambulance,” an action-packed drama.
Members of Imperial EMS will be volunteering at the theatre all three nights.
With this week being so busy with other school activities, the EMS members decided to hold an EMS Open House on Tuesday, May 24, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the courthouse lawn.
The public is invited to tour an ambulance, check out the equipment, get their vitals checked for free and enjoy some refreshments.
EMS had a recent “decorate a T-shirt” contest for 5th and 6th graders. Voting was online by the public.
There were 20 designs submitted for the contest, and sixth grader Cadence Lambert won with her design.
All EMS volunteers will be wearing their T-shirts with Lambert’s design during the open house at the courthouse on Tuesday.
New EMS officers elected
There was a recent vote for new EMS officers, and after 21 years as Imperial EMS president, Deb Hayes decided to step down as an officer.
She will be serving as Past President Advisor as well as VP/Training.
“I have held every office except VP/Training. Training is something I thoroughly enjoy, but I have never been in that position. When I was nominated during elections, I thought I would try it,” Hayes said.
The new EMS officers are:
President—Craig Loeffler
VP/Training—Deb Hayes
Secretary—Sabrina Hayes
Treasurer—Billie Hays
Sargent at Arms—Jayden Maris
