Health district sees 99 new COVID cases in past week

    Ninety-nine new cases of COVID-19 were reported in southwest Nebraska from Sept. 21-27, bringing the weekly average to 93.5 cases in the last 30 days.
    A district-wide case breakdown by age for the 99 new cases is: 0 to 19 – 25; 20 to 29 – 17; 30 to 39 – 8; 40 to 49 – 16; 50 to 59 – 13; 60 to 69 – 14; 70 to 79 – 4; 80 and over – 2.     
    The figures were released Tuesday by the Southwest Nebraska Public Health Dept., which incudes nine counties includes Chase.
    In Chase County, 10 new COVID cases were reported in the past 14 days. The data recorded since April 2020 shows Chase County with 496 COVID cases overall.
    Forty-three percent of Chase County residents have been vaccinated.
    Vaccination rates across the entire SWNPHD have reached 49.4%, counting both fully vaccinated and partially vaccinated individuals.
