Five compete in PASE livestock judging for Chase County 4-H

Chase County 4-H was represented by five members at the Premier Animal Science Event June 28-29.
Jayme Gittlein, Tessa Smith, Navy Havel and Odessa Zadina placed sixth overall out of 18 teams in intermediate livestock judging.
The group was the top placing team in cattle and second highest in reasons.
The team is coached by Regan Gittlein.
Livestock judging included senior and intermediate divisions.
Individually, Mandy Sandoval earned a blue ribbon in livestock judging, finishing 39th overall out of 91.
Held at University of Nebraska–Lincoln East Campus, PASE is designed to help youths learn about issues related to the animal industry, explore career opportunities that are available and compete with other teens from across the state.
Besides livestock judging, competitions were also held for meats judging and poultry judging, as well as livestock skill-a-thon and livestock quiz bowl.
    PASE is sponsored by Nebraska 4-H, the College of Agricultural Science and Natural Resources, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Nebraska Investment Finance Authority.

Livestock Judging Intermediate team—6. Overall; 1. Cattle; 2. Reasons.
Livestock Judging Intermediate individual:
Cattle—5. Jayme Gittlein; 10. Tessa Smith.
Reasons—6. Jayme Gittlein; 8. Navy Havel; 10. Tessa Smith.
Senior Individual—Mandy Sandoval, Blue Ribbon.
