Fireworks show will match past years

Those attending Saturday’s Fourth of July fireworks show in Imperial will take in an event similar to previous years.
With some news reports of a shortage on fireworks this year, both the Imperial Volunteer Fire Department and city of Imperial officials say they had no trouble ordering for this year’s show.
The city earmarked another $7,500 in their budget for this year’s show at the Chase County Fairgrounds.
Fire Chief Doug Mitchell said the show will start about 9:15 p.m. Parking is available both on the north and south of the fairgrounds. Some also watch the show from the shared pool and school parking lot.
Members of the IVFD shoot off the fireworks from a watered-down area at the fairgrounds.
If weather prevents Saturday’s show, it will be moved to Sunday, July 4, at the same time, Mitchell said.
