Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library building numbers in Chase County

Imperial Community Foundation Fund and Lied Imperial Public Library are working together to promote  the “Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library” program in Chase County.
The community foundation is a sponsoring affiliate for this international program, said Tyler Pribbeno, foundation director.
The Imperial library is a community partner whose role is assisting with enrollment by verifying registration information, said Beth Falla, library director.
This free program is open to any child from birth to 5 years old who resides in Chase County, said Falla.
“The program currently has 75 children enrolled to receive books,” she said.
The first children who were signed up began receiving books the end of May, she added.
The children will continue to receive a book each month until their fifth birthday.
“It is important to note that when enrolling, a mailing address must be listed. If you have a P.O. box, it must be included to receive books,” Falla said.
One mom who signed up her children in the program is Lindsey Brophy.
Brophy has four children— Adelaide, 6, Camrie, 4, Baylor, 2 and Elliana,  4 months.
“Camrie, Baylor and Elliana received their first books last month,” Brophy said.
“I was surprised they were hard cover books and really good quality,” she added.
Even though Adelaide is too old to be in the program, Brophy said she enjoys reading the books her siblings receive, too.
“So far, the foundation has received donations from two area businesses for this program,” Pribbeno said.
He went on to say that more donations are welcome to help cover program costs.
Businesses or individuals who would like to make a donation can contact any member of the community foundation or the library.
To enroll your child, contact the library at 308-882-4754 or go to https://imaginationlibrary.com/check-availability/.             Enrollment will be ongoing, said Falla.
Dolly Parton seeks to        encourage dreams
Dolly Parton started this program because of a very personal goal.
“When I was growing up in the hills of east Tennessee, I knew my dreams would come true.
“I know there are children in  your community with their own dreams. They dream of becoming a doctor or an inventor or a minister.
“Who knows, maybe there is a little girl (or boy) whose dream is to be a writer and singer.
“The seeds of these dreams are often found in books, and the seeds you help plant in your community can grow across the world,” she wrote.
