Commissioners discuss low-water crossing

The Chase County commissioners spent a short amount of time at the courthouse for their Feb. 8 meeting.
The board held short discussions with Highway Superintendent Toney Krajewski and Karen Baker with the county attorney’s office before taking a break to attend the Upper Republican Natural Resource District meeting to listen to their discussions about Blackshirt Feeders’ water variance.
Krajewski discussed a lowwater crossing at 736A Road between 347 & 348 Avenue near Craig and Jo Fanning’s home, who live north of Old Highway 6.
“Simplest is best,” Krajewski said, while suggesting a concrete low-water crossing that would be eight-inches deep.
No action was taken.
The board asked Krajewski to do a road study to vacate 20 feet of an 80-foot alley in Champion.
Baker reported that Dundy County has asked Chase County to run its juvenile diversion program. Baker said Dundy County hasn’t used the program in years and Chase County would keep the program fee of $150 if any diversions happen.
The next meeting of the commissioners will be Feb. 22 at 8 a.m. in the courthouse.
