City offering incentives to encourage energy savings

Utility customers can get cash payments for upgrades in five areas

The City of Imperial, in partnership with its wholesale electric power supplier, the Municipal Energy Agency of Nebraska, will continue to provide cash incentives for several energy efficiency programs.
The program year began April 1 and runs through March 31, 2024.
There are four energy efficiency programs available for residential customers making energy efficient upgrades to attic insulation, smart thermostats, cooling system tuneups and high efficiency heat pumps.
There is also a commercial LED lighting program for businesses, churches, schools and municipal buildings to upgrade their lighting system. Each program has its own cash incentive.
    Here are details on each:
Cooling System Tuneup Program—The program provides a $30 cash incentive to residential homeowners who have their cooling system tuned up by a HVAC contractor, regardless of what type or age of cooling system (air conditioner or air/water source heat pump).
Smart Thermostat Program—Provides a cash incentive of up to $100 paid directly to residential customers to help cover the cost of installing a qualifying smart thermostat.
Attic Insulation Program—This program provides cash incentives of 15 cents per square foot with a maximum incentive of $300 per existing residential dwelling for attic insulation.
High Efficiency Heat Pump Program—Provides cash incentives from $400 to $3,000 to residential homeowners who are installing a new heat pump system to their residential single-family dwelling.
Commercial LED Lighting Program—Provides cash incentives paid directly to commercial customers to help cover the cost of lighting upgrades and replacements.
All five programs are available to customers of the City of Imperial.
