Chase County Fair parade continues to grow

After a cooler summer, parade goers didn’t let a hot Saturday ruin their fun at this year’s Chase County Fair Parade.
As always, water was a popular feature for several floats to help keep the crowd cool.
Organizer Chris Lee said it was the largest parade since he’s been helping.
Led off by Grand Marshal Dennis Batterman, 55 entries took part in the parade.
The Chase County Senior Class won the Organization category and was chosen Grand Champion.
Other category winners were Global Methodist Church, Religious; Silver Spurs 4-H Club; Equestrian; Allo, Business; and Stacy Towns, Open Class.
Lee said Towns’ float was a birthday surprise float for Bobbie Hust. A float by the Leibbrandt family was second in the Open Class and featured Scott and Maika Leibrandt’s ’s children Simon and Claire and their cousin Asher with Grandma Deb, Lee said.
The winners in each category received $50 and the second place entries received $25. The Grand Champion received $75.
    Results are as follows:
Religious—1. Global Methodist Church, 2. Imperial Valley Holiness Camp.
Equestrian—1. Silver Spurs 4-H Club.

Open Class—1. Stacy Towns, 2. Leibbrandts.
