Chamber chooses Liewer Funeral Home for first recognition of ‘22

The Imperial Chamber of Commerce is awarding Liewer Funeral Home as January Business of the Month to kick off the new year.
Mike and Cindy Liewer are the current owners of the funeral home located at 841 Court Street in Imperial.
Liewer Funeral Home has been in business since 1991, providing planning for funerals, grief support and all associated needs during a family’s difficult time.
The Liewers offer funeral support by way of traditional services which involve embalming, caskets, visitation and services.
They also provide cremation services, which over the last decade have become more common.
Liewer said services involving cremation make up about 40% of all services now.
“I think more than anything else, cremation is more convenient, especially during the peak of the pandemic because families can plan a memorial service at a later time—sometimes waiting until summer when more family can gather,” he said.
Liewers also handle prearranged funerals, and they are associated with Nebraska Memorials through which monuments can be purchased locally.
The Liewers have four grown children, all raised at the funeral home and graduated from Chase County Schools, he said.
They have a son, Matt; daughter Katie Ray and husband Mike of Keller, Texas; daughter Jaci Harris and husband Jeremy, also of Keller, Texas; and Shannon Fisher husband Kelton of Imperial, plus four grandchildren.
A quote taken from their website reads, “While some just see the end of a loved one’s life as a time for grief and mourning, we prefer to think of it as a time for reflection, appreciation and even celebration.”
Liewer Funeral Home includes locations in Wauneta and Benkelman, as well.
