CCS blood drive has great turnout despite some challenges

The Red Cross blood drive held at Chase County Schools last Thursday fell short of the 82-unit goal by two.
“The Red Cross team arrived short-staffed and training new people, so this set the tone for the day, but we still came very close to our goal,” said Angie Paisley, school nurse and drive coordinator.
There were 10 power red donors with five new donors—three students, one staff member and one staff member’s spouse, Paisley said.
“I want to give recognition to several donor benchmarks. We had a fairly new donor, Jacqueline Urdahl, who reached one gallon; Jan Graham, three gallons; Sarah Morse, four gallons; Diane Bischoff and Trent Herbert, both five gallons; and Matt Terryberry reached seven gallons,” she said.
The next blood drive will be a community drive at the Nutrien building at the fairgrounds on May 19 from noon to 6 p.m.
