Winter sports’ athletes start competitions on Thursday

    Chase County and Wauneta-Palisade athletes will kick off their busy winter schedules Thursday.
    Previews for the Broncos and Longhorns, plus Perkins County and Wallace, are included in a special Winter Sports Preview section in this week’s paper.
    The Longhorns’ seasons begin Thursday when the basketball teams host Cozad and the wrestling team travels to Garden County.
    Friday the CCS basketball teams will be at McCook.
    The Longhorn wrestlers will at the Broken Bow Invite Saturday.
    The WP basketball teams will travel to Wallace Thursday then host Cambridge Friday.
    Bronco wrestlers have a busy weekend ahead of them. WP will be at the Hi-Line Invite in Eustis Friday. Saturday the Broncos will wrestle at the Mullen Invite.
    The Cattle Trail Basketball Tournament will be next week. Tuesday the Bronco girls play Decatur Community, Kansas at 6:30 p.m. CT at McCook Senior High. WP’s boys play the following game against Hitchcock County.
    The tournament will continue Dec. 9 and 10.
