Turnovers costly for Longhorn football team

The Longhorn Football team traveled to Amherst Friday night to take on the (1-1) Broncos. The Longhorns lost two fumbles and had four interceptions compared to no turnovers by Amherst.
The turnovers where to much for the Longhorns to overcome losing 14-38.
It started early in the first quarter. Chase County received the opening kick and started their first drive.
On third down the Horns went straight up the middle for good yardage but the Mustangs rallied to the ball and stripped it out, taking over inside the Longhorn 45.
After stopping the Broncos for about a yard on first down and dropping Jesse Tesmer for a loss of a couple yards on second the Broncos faced a third down and 12.
Senior Quarterback Tayje Hadwiger dropped back to pass and was flushed out to his left. While scrambling he found Carter Riessland open on the left sideline and threw a perfect strike for a 46 yard touchdown. The kick by Easton Mallack was good and a couple minutes into the game the Longhorns trailed 0-7.
Momentum quickly shifted back to the Longhorns when running back James McArthur ran the ensuing kick back 95 yards for a Longhorn Touchdown. McArthur added the kick to tie the game 7-7.
The game settled down after that for most of the first half until Hadwiger completed a 15 yard touchdown pass to Jesse Tesmer for the final score of the half. The extra point kick made it 7-14 at halftime.
After winning the coin toss and deferring, the broncos got the ball to start the third quarter. After a short kick and a minimall gain on first down, Tesmer hit a hole on the right side and scampered untouched 64 yards for pay dirt. The kick made it 7-21 less than a minute into the third quarter.
The Longhorns running game was finding the yards hard to come by so sophomore Malachi Christensen went to the air only to be picked off by Hadwiger who returned it to the Longhorn 15.
The Horns defense stiffened and held the Broncos to just a field goal making it 7-24.
The Longhorns put together a drive with no mishaps and handed the ball to big Thomas Reeves from the 2 yard line to cut into the lead of the Broncos. After the kick the Longhorns trailed 14-24.
Amherst came right back with Tesmer going right up the gut for 53 yards and a touchdown. The kick was good and the Longhorns where right back in a hole.
The horns next two possessions ended with interceptions, one by Christensen and one on a flee flicker thrown by Cooper Dillan.
The Horns defense was able to keep Amherst from scoring off either turnover although the Broncos tried a field goal but a mishandled snap blew that up.
The final score of the game came in the fourth quarter when back-up quarterback Easton Mallack tossed a little dump pass to Tesmer who was off to the races for a 70 yard touchdown. The extra point brought the final score to 14-38.
