Longhorns fall in doubleheaders

The Chase County softball team lost doubleheaders with Holyoke and Southern Valley/Alma last week.
The Longhorns hosted Holyoke for its first home game of the season Aug. 29.
CCS trailed 1-3 after the first inning of game one. Brooke Schilke led off for the Longhorns and came around to score. Hailey Markee also singled for CCS.
Chase County game up 12 runs in the second inning when the Dragons put the ball in play six times.
The Longhorns’ bottom of the order scored two runs in the second inning. Denisse Guillen was hit by a pitch and Kathya Aragon singled. Both scored.
After Holyoke tacked on three more runs in the third, CCS wasn’t able to take advantage of a Markee single in the bottom of the inning.
Marley Randall pitched a complete game for Chase County.
Katelyn Stamm came on to pitch in the second game.
CCS gave up five runs in the first inning, but answered with two runs of its own. Schilke singled and Stamm walked to lead off the game. Both came around to score. Jasmine Johnson and Markee each singled in the inning, as well.
The Longhorns gave up three more runs in the second inning before stranding runners at first and second in the bottom half.
Once more, Chase County allowed three runs in an inning. Schilke added one more single to her total, but CCS was unable to add anymore runs in the game. Holyoke tacked on one more run in the top of the fourth inning.
Thursday CCS made the trip to Stamford to take on SVA.
The Longhorns gave up 11 runs in the first inning and another seven in the second inning.
Yesi Ruiz walked and stole a base before coming in to score Chase County’s only run in the game.
Stamm and Guillen pitched for CCS.
In game two, the Longhorns gave up nine runs in the first inning and held the Saints to three runs in the second inning.
Stamm walked and stole two bases, before scoring on a wild pitch.
andall was on the mound for Chase County and hit a single at the plate.
CCS has a full schedule this week. The Longhorns played a doubleheader at Yuma County Tuesday, will head to Hershey for a doubleheader Thursday and round out the week with a JV/varsity doubleheader at Gothenburg Saturday.
Chase County will also host a triangular with Gering and Bayard  this coming Tuesday.
