Haley Rusher (10-4) faced Gracyn Vondy of Sterling in her first match in Bridgeport. Rusher pinned Vondy nine seconds into the second period. Rusher went on to pin Izabelle Owens of Sidney in the next round to win the girls 145 pound division.

Zach Tarin wrestled Lukas Kadolph (3-8) from Gering in his second match of the day. Tarin pinned Kadolph in 1:22 into the second period enroute to winning the 285 pound weight class.

Fabian Arelin faced Aiden Patterson of Wheatland in his opening match of the day in Bridgeport. It took only 0:41 seconds to get a win by pin. Aerlin finished the tournament third place.

Chase County wrestlers have good showing at Bridgeport/Sidney Invite

    Both the boys and girls wrestling squads made the trip to Bridgeport Saturday, Dec. 16 for an invitational wrestling tourney.
    The boys finished in second place, just eight and one half points behind the champs from Gering. The girls only had three competitors, but still managed to finish 11th out of the 14 teams.
    One highlight on the day was heavyweight Zach Tarin avenging his only loss of the year from the Broken Bow Tournament by defeating Jeremiah Coley of Mitchell in sudden victory, 3-1 in the finals, to take first place.
    Luis Co and Jaret Peterson continued with wins at 144 pounds and 215 pounds respectively. Malachi Christensen at 138 pounds and Westyn Mendenhall at 157 both had championship matches, but came up just short, finishing with second place.
    Fabian Arelin at 165 and Thomas Reeves at 190 both came back after losses in the semifinals to capture third place finishes.
    Brextin Moreno, 113, Scott Hoover, 150, and Tyler O’Neil at 175, all brought home fifth place finishes.
    In the girls division, Haley Rusher took first place in the 145 pound class, while Navaeh Martin placed third at 105 and Lizbit Mireles finished in fourth.
    This was the last action for the wrestlers in the 2023 part of the season.
