Broncos to host dual Thursday
The Southern Valley Invite is always a tough meet for the Wauneta-Palisade wrestling team and Friday’s tournament was no exception.
Konner McCrumb went 2-2 at 113 pounds to lead the Broncos. Konner McCrumb’s losses were to the tournament’s third and fourth place finishers.
At 132 pounds, Andrew Mackety picked up his first win of the season.
Coleman Chism saw his season record evened to 5-5 at 120 pounds. Trey McCrumb moved to 4-6 at 175 pounds.
Kameran McCrumb was also on the mat for WP and Draven Miner saw his first action of the season.
Overall, the team is off to one of the best starts Head Coach Shad Wiese has seen.
“They are setting themselves up very well for the rest of the season as long as we can keep up the work,” Wiese said.
Unfortunately, Bronco freshman Kreyton Wiese finishes his season at 6-1 due to a season-ending injury.
Andrea Almanza was injured last week and didn’t attend any meets. Coaches are hopeful she will return to action this week.
The Broncos’ boys team will host Perkins County in Wauneta Thursday for a dual. Matches will start at 6 p.m. MT.
“I’m excited to have a home event for these kids, they finally have a chance for friends and family to see them compete. Hopefully it’s a start for more to come,” Wiese said.
WP will also be in action Friday at Sutherland for its final meet before the NSAA Moratorium.
