CCS one-act putting final touches on SPVA entry

Cast plans local performances on Nov. 23 and 30

Monday is the SPVA Conference one-act play competition, and the CCS cast is putting the final touches on its performance.
All seven SPVA schools will be in North Platte Monday. CCS is fifth on the schedule for a 2:30 p.m. CT performance at the Fox Theatre downtown.
Director Jill Bauerle is working with a cast and support crew of more than 50 students this year in their staging of “The Greek(ish) Myth of Marcyonome” by Alan Haehnel.
An intoning Greek chorus begins the story but is interrupted by a bored audience member who begs the chorus to be quiet or to make the play more entertaining.
The chorus fails at whispering the play, but is saved by another audience member who emerges from the house and volunteers to tell a story. Her story is then brought to life by her “Greek stand-in” Marcyonome.
Following Monday’s SPVA contest, the CCS one-act will then compete in the C1-6 District competition Dec. 1 at North Platte High School.
There is no admission charge to attend the SPVA contest. Here is the full performance schedule (times listed are CT):
    11 a.m. North Platte St. Pat’s
    11:45 a.m. Sutherland
    12:15 p.m. Lunch break
    1 p.m. Kimball
    1:45 p.m. Bridgeport
    2:30 p.m. Chase County
    3:15 p.m. Perkins County
    4 p.m. Hershey
Two local performances
Bauerle has scheduled two performances this month at the CCS auditorium for local patrons.
They are set for Tuesday, Nov. 23 and 30, both at 7:30 p.m.
Free will donations will be accepted at the door both nights, Bauerle said, to help with cost of scripts, performance royalties and materials for costumes and set.
