CCS band students attend top honor music festival

Seven Chase County Schools’ band students were selected to perform with over 100 area high school students during the Best of the West Music Festival on Monday.
Students attending from Imperial were seniors Virginia Kimble, Ella O’Neil and Shelby Baird, junior Ian Moreno, sophomores Brendan Pump and Cameron Johnson and freshman Navy Smith.
“There were actually a few more band students who were supposed to go, but they had to attend national FFA,” said Agnes Strand, CCS band director.
The event, which took place at North Platte Community College,  showcased the talent and skill of the area’s top high school musicians who earned the right to perform at the festival after being nominated by their music teachers.
The band director was Jennifer Winder from North Platte St. Pat’s and Kristin Simpson as vocal director from NPCC.
The students performed at a free concert for the public that evening in the McDonald-Belson Theater on the NPCC south campus.
