If they had given a prize for the most fish caught, Adler Chubb would have been the winner. This carp he pulled in was the tenth fish he had caught on the day.

SW Ne. Isaac Walton League hosts Ron Berry Memorial Fishing Day

It couldn’t have been a nicer day for the Southwest Nebraska Ike’s Kids’ FISHing Day. The FISH stands for fun is showing how.
Saturday, June 1, a total of 23 kids showed up at Cox’s Ponds  for a full day of fun. Ike’s supplied fishing poles and showed the kids how to bait the lines during the day.
All the fish caught were released back into the ponds. This is the first year the fishing day has been held at the ponds.
Normally the event has been held at Champion Lake, but with the lake being dry, the event was moved to Cox’s Ponds.
All of the kids seemed to enjoy the day and most got to catch at least one fish. Some even caught a turtle.
After a few hours of fishing, Ike’s fed the kids burgers and hotdogs, chips, beans and a wide variety of desserts.
They drew random names out of a bucket for prizes for the kids. Every child in attendance got to pick a prize off the table which included fishing poles and reels, tackle boxes and other assorted fishing gear.
There were two grand prizes consisting of a Nebraska lifetime hunting and fishing license. The winners of these were Zariah Carman and Bo Owens.
The Old Iron Antique and Vintage Tractor Group stopped at the ponds for a lunchbreak during thier parade around the county Saturday.
