Two from International Leadership Training Program visit Imperial

The International Leadership Training Program (ILTP) is a mission organization raising future leaders from around the world as “One Family Under God” beyond race and religion.
Their mission is “Impacting Lives Towards Peace.”
The program is operated solely by volunteers and donations.
Two young women who are involved with ILTP spent the day in Imperial last week, talking about their mission and selling handmade jewelry to raise funds to cover the cost of service projects, seminars and other operational expenses.
Grace Itea is from the Solomon Islands in the South Pacific and Phonphimon Khamwan is from Thailand.
Both women are part of a group of five staying in Ogallala and traveling to different towns around the area to sell their jewelry and tell their stories.
The team was assigned to Nebraska as their mission state.
“Originally, our stay in America was for one year, but we have been here for one year and three months so far because our countries are closed for re-entry because of COVID,” Itea said.
The Solomon Islands hasn’t had a case of COVID, so they are very strict about letting travelers come in, she added.
The program is designed to offer first-hand experience of the spirit of America.
Participants learn about a life of service, racial and cultural diversity and natural environment all over the country.
They are provided comprehensive leadership training through cross-cultural volunteer service and educational seminars in order to help them find their calling.
Khamwan said she only speaks a little English, so she was hoping to improve her English while in the U.S.
