Ted Brewer hired as county road superintendent

    Commissioners Jacci Brown and Dennis Kunnemann fulfilled a campaign promise Jan. 14 when the pair and fellow commissioner Chuck Vette unanimously approved hiring Ted Brewer as county road superintendent.
    The group started interviews in November with six interested parties.
    “Ted was selected based on his many years of experience working for the road department and previous experience working in highway construction,” Kunnemann said.
    Each commissioner had been responsible for overseeing the road department in their district. Kunnemann said he and Brown felt they didn’t have the experience necessary to manage their departments.
    Kunnemann also pointed out that money has been budgeted for this position for the last several years but remained unused.
    “The commissioners are optimistic that this action will bring about a great improvement in our roads along with a more efficient use of equipment and personnel,” he said.
    Brewer will receive a $50,000 annual salary.
