In front of the Imperial Manor, staff coming to work are greeted with the words, “Behind every great nursing home is a great staff.” CCS art teacher Chelsea Zuege contributed her time to make this sign and the one at Parkview-Heights.

Stimulus funds helping senior care facilities recoup COVID-19 costs

Imperial’s senior care facilities, the Imperial Manor and Parkview-Heights, received three stimulus checks from the federal government that are helping recoup expenses due to COVID-19.
Eric Haider, CEO for the facilities, said a total of $261,935.05 from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Stability (CARES) Act stimulus money was received.
With the additional costs due to the virus, which is hitting U.S. nursing homes considerably hard, the money is being put to good use.
“These monies will be used to recover extra costs due to coronavirus—increased staffing, supplies and implementing programs to improve residents’ quality of care,” he said.
During the pandemic, which is still keeping visitors out, Haider said other costs have accrued from one-to-one activities for residents in their rooms, communications systems and more.
For several weeks, residents had to stay in their rooms all day, even for meals.
That was lifted a couple of weeks ago, and residents are now back eating in the dining rooms.
Families of residents receive a letter from Haider each week, updating them on news from the facilities.
