A Palisade man was arrested Friday for child enticement by electronic device.
A press release from the Nebraska State Patrol said James Hicks, 42, was arrested that morning after a search of his Palisade home.
The release said the investigation began after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children contacted the State Patrol and told them a person at Hicks’ residence had received child pornography.
A search of the home was conducted Friday morning and the arrest followed midmorning, State Patrol spokesman Cody Thomas said.
Child enticement by electronic device is a Class IV felony punishable by a maximum of five years in prison or a $10,000 fine.
The investigation is ongoing, the State Patrol said. Because of that, Thomas said, he could give few other details.
Federal agencies also are involved in the case, Thomas said. He said he did not know how NCMEC came to contact local authorities.
Hicks remains in the Hitchcock County Jail on $75,000 bond or $7,500 cash.
The Hitchcock County Clerk of Courts office said no court date was set as of Tuesday.
