No cases of virus found in Nebraska

Group of potentially infected people to be quarantined near Lincoln

Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department (SWPHD) issued a release Tuesday saying there are no confirmed cases of coronavirus in Nebraska or surrounding states.
“We have received a few questions regarding the coronavirus,” said Kathie Skeen, Emergency Planning Coordinator for SWPHD.
“It is important to keep southwest Nebraskans informed and up-to-date.”
While no Nebraskans have confirmed cases of the virus, there will be people possibly affected brought into Nebraska.
Authorities said 70 people will be brought for quarantine to Camp Ashland, the Nebraska National Guard training site near Lincoln.
These individuals are Americans returning from China who may have been exposed to the virus.
Mike Meyer, Ashland Fire Chief, said 70 EMS workers will also be brought in to monitor the infected individuals.
Besides the EMS workers, they would be kept segregated from staff and daily operations at the camp.
While a date they are to be brought to Camp Ashland is unknown, Meyer expected it to be sometime this week.
