National POW/MIA Day observed

Last Friday was National POW/MIA Recognition Day, first established in 1979. In observance, there is an annual display called the Missing Man Table where a narration is given along with an explanation of the symbolism of each item on the table. This ceremony is referred to as “The POW/MIA Remembrance Ceremony.” Eric Gonzalez, a retired U.S. Marine and Quartermaster for the VFW Post 4688, conducted the ceremony. The presentation took place at the Imperial VFW canteen with a number of veterans and post auxiliary officers in attendance.
