MPCC Imperial site addition on schedule

So far, COVID-19 hasn’t affected the schedule of the addition to the Mid-Plains Community College (MPCC) Imperial site.

Workers from Wayne Dowhower Construction, Inc. in North Platte were placing footings at the site on Tuesday.

“We’ve got concrete scheduled for Thursday morning (today),” the on-site manager said.

The near 2,500-square-foot addition is being built on the north end of the current facility at 1324 Broadway in Imperial.

Two new classrooms and a multi-purpose room will be added there, as will new restrooms, a mechanical room and a storage room.

Remodeling will also be done in the current building, with an area developed into a simulation lab for health-related training.

In addition to MPCC’s contribution toward the $925,000 project cost, funding came from the City of Imperial, the Chase County Board of Commissioners, donations from several local businesses and organizations and the William and Ruth Scott Family Foundation of Omaha.

Since breaking ground this month, the goal is to complete the project by fall 2021, college officials said.
