Lions’ Easter Egg ‘drive-thru’ set for Saturday

Plans for the Easter Egg Hunt in the park were canceled, but the Imperial Lions Club still wanted Imperial youngsters to celebrate with their own hunt at home or in their yards.

Candy-filled eggs had already arrived for the April 4 hunt, so members came up with another idea.

Instead of a hunt, Lions President Sheryl Curtis announced the club will host an Easter Egg Drive-thru this Saturday, and the Easter Bunny plans to be on site.

From 10 to 11:30 a.m., parents can drive through the parking lot at the NRD office in Imperial, 511 East 5th Street, and pick up a bag of the filled plastic eggs originally intended to be placed out in the park for the hunt.

The Lions Club will provide one bag per child, Curtis said.

Parents of youths in second grade and younger are invited to the drive-thru event with their parents anytime between 10 and 11:30 a.m. this Saturday.

Lions members will be on hand, wearing gloves, to distribute the bags as cars drive through. The pre-filled eggs were ordered many weeks ago and were filled at the company site.

The annual Easter Egg Hunt is one of many Lions-sponsored service activities for local youths.
