The Imperial Community Foundation Fund (ICFF) announced in May about a challenge they were invited to pursue.
ICFF is an affiliated fund of the Nebraska Community Foundation.
The challenge was a $250,000 challenge grant toward their unrestricted endowment fund made by the Sherwood Foundation and Peter Kiewit Foundation, both based in Omaha.
If ICFF can raise $500,000 by the end of 2020, the two foundations will match it with $250,000.
The challenge was announced at a community celebration on May 4. At the end of the night, ICFF members announced that $375,000 had already been raised towards the $500,000 goal.
To date, more than 250 donors have brought the total pledged to more than $416,600 in multiple forms, according to ICFF Treasurer Doug Gaswick.
