Fraud/scam seminar coming to MPCC Imperial campus

Waypoint Bank and Mid-Plains Community College (MPCC) are co-hosting a seminar in conjunction with the Nebraska Attorney General’s office Monday evening at 7 p.m. at the MPCC Imperial campus.
A representative from the Attorney General’s office will be providing information on  scams and fraud situations that can target people in all age groups, said Harmaleigh Dubas, consumer lending officer at Waypoint Bank.
Seminar attendees will learn to protect themselves and those in their lives from different types of frauds and scams.
The instructor will identify and discuss the largest source of frauds that affect Nebraskans today, she added.
The seminar will explain  the different ways scammers obtain information from people, said Dubas.
“We want to provide this as a service to our community and spread awareness,” she said.
There is no cost to attend this class, and walk-ins are welcome to attend, said Dubas.
“But we encourage people to register for the seminar ahead of time for space allocation,” she said.
MPCC and Waypoint Bank ask that registrations be called in by 12 noon Friday at 308-882-5972.
Refreshments will be provided during the seminar.
