Finishing of new city water well still up in air

Earlier this year, the Imperial city council approved a bid from Sargent Irrigation of $275,762.50 for a new water well.
After some setbacks, including a foundation that needed to be adjusted, Imperial Public Works Director Pat Davison said the only thing left is the well house.
“The well is done, we’re just waiting on the brick layer,” he said.
“They’ve done a little bit of work on the building (this week) but not much,” Davison added.
The floor of the new well house was poured on Monday.
There are four wells that service the city, so it’s not a concern that this new one is not online yet, Davison said.
“The casings on this old one were going bad so it was time to replace,” he said. The casings were not causing any contaminants, though, he added.
Davison doesn’t have an idea for a completion date at this point.
“I wish I knew,” he said.
