Drones appear gone, but origins remain a mystery

    The drones apparently have gone away, but the mystery hasn’t.
    In an email interview, Chase County Sheriff Kevin Mueller said there have been no drone sightings reported in the county “at least for the last couple weeks.” His deputies have not seen any either.
    “We still have no answers,” he said.
    He did not know if any of the federal agencies involved—the FBI, Federal Aviation Administration and Homeland Security—still are investigating.
    “For the sheriff’s office, the investigation is over with,” he said.
    The investigations started Dec. 28 after drones of unknown origin were spotted over Colorado and southwest Nebraska. The drones had anywhere from a five-foot wingspan to 15 feet. Some appeared alone and in other cases, they were spotted in groups of up to 15. Most of the sightings were at night.
