Driver flown out after pickup rollover Sunday

One man was life-flighted to another facility after being thrown from a pickup that rolled west of Imperial Sunday night.
Sheriff Kevin Mueller said the vehicle, a 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty pickup, had been traveling southbound on 321 Avenue when the driver, Humberto Calderon-Rodriguez, 21, of rural Imperial lost control causing the pickup to go into the west ditch where the pickup rolled several times.
Calderon-Rodriguez was ejected from the vehicle and was transported by Imperial EMS to Chase County Community Hospital. He was later life-flighted to another facility due to the extent of injuries, Mueller said.
Passengers in the vehicle were Jose Quezada-Montalvo, 20, and Daniel Flores-Rojas, 19, both of Imperial. They were also transported to the hospital in Imperial and later released with minor injuries.
The accident remains under investigation. Mueller said speed is believed to be a factor in the accident. Vehicle restraints were not in use, he said.
The sheriff’s office, Imperial EMS and the Imperial Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to the scene about 7:20 p.m. Sunday.
