Just like most places in Imperial these days, Campbell Park had little activity Sunday afternoon. Along with restrictions announced earlier, city officials the past week closed all the parks to group activities.

City parks are now closed to groups; cooperation with restrictions sought

City officials continue to assess its services in response to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, closely monitoring various governmental agencies and their recommendations.

Two weeks ago, Imperial officials took action to close facilities and alter meeting structures.

All gatherings in city structures were suspended on March 17.

This week, additional restrictions in the parks have been added, said Tricia Morena, Deputy City Clerk.

Also announced this week was the start of online summer ball registrations.

Regarding parks, Moreno said they are discouraging individuals from different households and in groups to gather at the city ballfields and parks until at least May 1 or until further notice.

All restrooms in Campbell and Schroeder Parks have been closed, she said.
