Chase County sends out survey about roads

Chase County rural residents, landowners and farm operators, rural mail carriers and school bus drivers should keep an eye on their mail boxes for a road survey sent out by the Chase County Commissioners.
Over 300 surveys were mailed in hopes of gaining valuable information to bring about improvements.
The questionnaire includes a county map and people are asked to identify problems such as plugged culverts, bad intersections, washboard stretches of road, no ditches or loose sand or gravel, among other concerns.
    General comments are also welcome.
With the hiring of Ted Brewer as road superintendent last week, Commissioner Dennis Kunnemann said the survey will help Brewer identify problems and improve the overall quality of the roads.
Kunnemann said he doesn’t know of any one of the three districts—Imperial, Lamar or Wauneta—having more problems than another.
He noted that roads in the sandhills in the southwest part of the county are especially difficult to maintain.
People may also call the county road department at 308-882-7520 or email ccroad@gpcom.net with concerns.
“A genuine effort was made to include everyone that is a regular user of our road network, but in case you were overlooked copies of the survey and map are available at the roads department office in the Chase County Courthouse,” Kunnemann said.
