Blood drive saw family members donating together

Angie Paisley, CCS nurse and coordinator for the school blood drive, said 74 units of blood were collected last Thursday, falling short of the 94 unit goal.
“We had some donors cancel due to either illness or farmers busy with harvest. So considering, I thought we did well,” she said.
Some interesting highlights arose from last week’s blood drive.
Donating blood can be a family affair, she said.
Couples donating blood as a team were Matt and Carrie Terryberry, Doug and Judy Gaswick and Robert and Burnetta Ahrens.
Parent/child teams were Cathy and Matt Hanna and Dan and Mikael Kuhlmann.
Allo was represented with five employees donating blood.
“We really appreciate businesses who let their employees off to come give blood,” said Paisley.
Important also to mention were four new donors—all students, she said.
The next American Red Cross blood drive will be held at the CCS auxiliary gym on Jan. 23, 2020 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
