Beautiful morning greets Joggin’ for Frogmen

Saturday proved to be the best day weather-wise during Memorial Day weekend, and that brought out runners, walkers and “tadpole” youth racers for the sixth annual Joggin’ for Frogmen in Imperial. Participants from throughout Chase County, as well as other states, were registered. Above, two Imperial Volunteer Fire Department trucks provided the start line borders for the 5k run/walk, sending them off with loud sirens. At left, Wauneta’s Dayna Cayer and dog Angel start their walk among the group from Imperial’s Campbell Park. She earned the Most Patriotic Dress Award. The overall 5k male winner was Jon Whiting, 25, of Arvada, Colorado who outran all others with a time of 19:45. Female winner was Imperial native Lyndsy Schultz of Edwards, Colorado, who was third overall with a time of 21:07. There were right at 100 finishers in the 5k run/walk and another 15-20 in the tadpole races for youths six and younger. Full results of the event and funds raised for the Navy Seal Foundation will follow in next week’s issue. (Johnson Publications photos)
