Arrowheads at museum

An extensive arrowhead collection will be on display Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Chase County Museum.
Don and Jean Welch of Champion hunted and collected arrowheads for around 30 years.
“When I first met Jean, she was into hunting arrowheads and got me hooked,” said Don.
For years after, the couple continued hunting arrowheads as a regular Sunday afternoon activity, covering a 50-mile radius of Champion.
Welch said they have a few Yuma points, an extremely rare pre-historic arrowhead. Most are from Pawnee, Sioux and possibly Comanche tribes.
Welch said he will begin a question and answer session at 1:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
