Imperial peewee seasons begin; teams split wins

Two of Imperial’s three peewee teams got games under their belts last week.
Weather led to the cancellation of Imperial 2’s games.
Imperial 1 beats Paxton
Imperial 1 opened its season Friday against Paxton.
After a first inning that saw three up and three down for both teams, Paxton stranded a runner on third in the top of the second inning.
Imperial 1 had better luck, scoring Jackson Cyboron, but leaving Parker Terryberry stuck on second.
Each team retired all three batters it faced in the third inning.
Paxton’s second batter reached third base in the fourth inning. Once more Paxton left the runner stranded before sitting down all three Imperial 1 batters it faced.
Terryberry scored for Imperial 1 in the bottom of the fifth inning, but the home team trailed 2-3 after giving up three runs in the top of the inning.
Paxton increased its lead with two runs in the six inning.
Needing to rally, Tucker Mollendor, Cole Pankonin, Noah Rau and Krayton Paisley crossed the plate in the bottom of the sixth to give Imperial 1 the walk off win on a Cristobal Tarango Flores single.
Imperial 3 falls to Wallace
Imperial’s youngest peewee team lost to Wallace 2-16 in its season opener.
Imperial 3 stranded one runner in the first inning, then left bases loaded in the second.
The squad got on the board in the third inning thanks to runs by Jaxsen Villarreal and Aidan Tomky, but left two runners on base.
Imperial 3 went down 1-2-3 in the fourth inning to end the game.
