Speech season wraps up at districts for CCS, WP

The speech season came to an end for Chase County and Wauneta-Palisade students with performances at district competitions.
CCS traveled to Ainsworth for the C1-6 district Saturday. Other schools included Ainsworth, Bridgeport, Gordon-Rushville, Hershey, Kearney Catholic, Mitchell and Valentine.
Brayan Cazares was the school’s top finisher, with his sixth place performance in serious prose.
Other CCS performers this season were Tegan Towns, Annika McDaniel, Mason Tyerman, Kobe Norman, Kayla Chavira, Iris Robles and Brooke Schilke.
WP took part in the D1-5 district at Callaway against Anselmo-Merna, Brady, Callaway, Hitchcock County, Humphrey, Southwest, Stapleton and Wallace.
Advisor Tayler Nordhausen said the day went well, but it was a long one. The team left at 4:20 Monday morning.
Kate Parrish-Yell and Olivia Behrends advanced to finals with their duet. The pair placed sixth overall.
Ryleigh McCrumb and Mandy Sandoval also performed a duet.
Hailea Baker took part in poetry and Sonya Behrends in entertainment speaking.
