Two Chase County youths, Darin Knobbe of Imperial and Shaylee Heathers of Champion, have qualified for the State 4-H Horse Show next month.
The two combined for several ribbons at the district show held June 9 in Sidney. Heathers was in the junior division, while Knobbe competed in the senior class.
Heathers came home with five ribbons—a blue and the grand championship in reining, a blue and the reserve championship in horsemanship, a blue and fourth place in pole bending, a blue and fifth place in barrels and a red in western pleasure.
Knobbe took the grand championship and purple ribbon in horsemanship, a red in western pleasure and white in reining.
Youths will compete at the state show in those events in which they earned blue ribbons or higher.
The state show will be held July 13-17 at Fonner Park in Grand Island.
