An Imperial man is in the Chase County Jail following his arrest for an alleged robbery at Imperial’s Subway restaurant.
Josh Reichard, 20, has been charged with felony burglary, unlawful taking and trespassing, the latter two being misdemeanors.
Police Sgt. Ryan Wisnieski was alerted of the burglary Friday morning at 6:40 a.m. by a Subway employee.
His preliminary investigation found that $286 had been taken from the cash register and a cash box. There was no damage inside, and the officer said the perpetrator gained access with a key to the business late Thursday about 11:15 p.m., after the business had closed.
A security video inside the business allegedly caught the perpetrator in action. Wisnieski indicated the thief was inside the Subway building just a couple of minutes.
Reichard was arrested later Friday at 9:45 p.m. at his home by Police Officer Kyle Hansen, who had also conducted some additional investigation prior to the arrest.
Only about $16 of the money was recovered, Wisnieski said. Subway was closed for a short time early Friday, but reopened mid-morning.
Judge Edward Steenburg set bond at $75,000. Ten percent must be posted for Reichard to be released.
