Dan Lenners of Chase County Schools and Randy Geier of Wauneta Palisade High School have been chosen as head coaches for the 35th annual West Nebraska All-Star Football Game this summer.
In addition, Wauneta-Palisade assistant football coach Joe Frecks will also be an assistant to Geier for the all-star game.
The 2013 game will be played Saturday, June 1, at Bearcat Stadium in Scottsbluff at 7 p.m.
Lenners is head coach of the Chase County Longhorns, while Geier heads up the Wauneta-Palisade Broncos.
Lenners will lead the West Team. In the 2012 season, the Longhorns finished 6-4, losing to Boone Central in the second round of the Class C-1 playoffs.
Lenners also served as head coach for the West Team in 2008, and was an assistant coach in 2004.
Geier will be head coach for the East Team this year. Last season, Geier’s team went undefeated and won the Six-Man State Championship, defeating Sioux County in the finals, 26-16.
This will be Geier’s first time as head coach in the West Nebraska All-Star Game. He was an assistant in the 2007 contest.
Serving as assistant coaches with Lenners will be Chris Bailey of Mitchell High School, Jud Hall of Scottsbluff High School and Barry Swisher of Sioux County High School in Harrison.
Besides Frecks, other assistants with Geier for the East Team include Jeremy Epp of Southern Valley High School and Dustin Sealy of Arapahoe High School.
Rosters for the two all-star teams will be announced later in the spring.
Top football players from western Nebraska who will graduate in 2013 will be chosen to play in the game by the all-star coaching staffs.
