As of Tuesday, Spencer Rowley, who was born in Imperial but grew up in Alliance, is the newest member of the Imperial Police Department.
Rowley, 21, received an Associate of Arts degree in criminal justice from Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colo.
As he had just turned 21, had just received his degree and had just begun applying for law enforcement jobs, he was pleased that his first offer was from Imperial.
Rowley, whose parents are Bill and Lori Rowley, has grandparents JD and Shirley Reeder and Evelyn Rowley living in Imperial, making the offer more attractive.
Already a sworn officer, Rowley will be riding with the three other officers for a month. He has arrest rights.
Rowley will attend the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center in Grand Island for 16 weeks beginning in January for his certification.
Previous law enforcement experience includes seven months as a public safety dispatcher in Alliance, as well as two years as a volunteer firefighter in the same city.
His hobbies include hunting, fishing and firefighting.
Rowley decided in his sophomore year of high school that he wanted to be a police officer. He graduated from Alliance High School in 2009.
