Senior girls chalk up two more wins; tourney on Saturday PDF Print E-mail

With the last two regular season games on the schedule Tuesday and Wednesday this week, Imperial’s senior girls’ softball team also picked up two wins last week.
That bumped Imperial’s record to 3-1, as they prepare for the season-ending tournament this Saturday in Wauneta. Tournament games start at 1 p.m.
Imperial’s most recent wins came against Atwood, Kan., and Benkelman.
Atwood game
Imperial had an easy win in Atwood, Kan., last Tuesday, as they came home with a 21-5 win in a three-inning game.
Collecting hits for Imperial were Cheyanne Kuhlmann, a single and double; Emma Bauerle, two singles; and Kacia Smith, Cassie Burpo, Anna Bauerle, Naomi Harmon, Abbi Vetter and Emily Johnston, each with a single.
Cheyanne Kuhlmann pitched the first inning, giving up one hit, walking none and had no strikeouts. Naomi Harmon finished the last two innings, and gave up no hits, walked seven and struck out one.
Benkelman game
It was a much closer score, but a win no less, as Imperial defeated Benkelman last Thursday 12-9 on the home Schroeder field.
Credited with hits were Cheyanne Kuhlmann, a homerun; Charlie Ann Carter, two singles; and Ally Vrbas, Michaela Space and Abbi Vetter, each with a single.
Pitching the first inning, Abbi Vetter gave up no hits, walked seven and struck out one. Kacia Smith finished the game, striking out six, walking none and giving up three hits.
